A dramatic headline, but in fact a lovely piece of news.

The Seaforth Highlanders war memorials are sited, as you may be aware in St. Stephens' United Reformed Church, De Montfort Street, Leicester.

During work this year, it became clear that the church building was suffering from the horror of dry rot. Work to remedy this meant stripping off the plaster from the walls and removing the Seaforth memorial plaques. The church elders decided that they would take the opportunity to re site the plaques in a more prominent position within the church, in close proximity to the churches other memorials, so creating a dedicated area of Remembrance.

This area is for quiet reflection, prayer and for those wishing to view the Rolls of Honour. Building work is still in progress but we look forward to Remembrance Sunday and paying our respects in the new area.

Our grateful thanks must go to the Minister, Lynn Fowkes and the congregation of St. Stephens' for being so accomodating and helping the band to fulfill their pledge of maintaining the memory of the Seaforth Highlanders of Leicestershire.
